ZnStack: Development of New Melting and Holding Furnace for Zinc Recycling

GHI Smart Furnaces, in collaboration with Indaux and Tecnalia Technology Center, is proud to introduce the ZnStack project. This innovative initiative aims to develop a new melting and holding furnace specifically designed for the efficient recycling of zinc alloys. The project focuses on optimizing the use of raw materials with high organic or complex content, enhancing energy efficiency, and improving overall production quality.

Project Overview

The ZnStack project targets the creation of a state-of-the-art furnace that addresses the specific needs of non-ferrous metal recycling, particularly zinc alloys. By leveraging advanced technologies and innovative engineering, this furnace will set new standards in the industry.

Key Objectives:

  1. Design a Melting Furnace: Create a furnace capable of recovering complex zinc-based materials, which can also be utilized for other low-melting-point materials like aluminum.
  2. Cost-Effective Zinc Alloys: Produce cast zinc alloys at a reduced cost, making them more competitive in the market.
  3. Knowledge Generation: Develop a deep understanding of the parameters that influence the efficiency of melting towers for low-melting-point alloys.

Collaborative Effort

The ZnStack project exemplifies the power of collaboration. Working alongside Indaux and Tecnalia, GHI Smart Furnaces brings together expertise and innovation to deliver a groundbreaking solution for the recycling industry.

Financial Support

This project has been co-financed by the SPRI, Business Development Agency of the Basque Government, highlighting its importance and potential impact on the sector.

Expected Benefits:

  • Efficient recycling of zinc alloys and other low-melting-point materials.
  • Reduced production costs for competitive market pricing.
  • Enhanced energy efficiency and operational performance.
  • Advanced understanding of melting tower efficiency parameters.
