This project, developed in collaboration with Befesa Aluminio, Nervacero, Bs-tech Rolling Mill and Tecnalia technology center, aims to develop innovative technologies to increase energy efficiency in industrial furnaces.

Specifically, it focuses on these two areas of action:

  • Recovery of secondary aluminum in rotary furnaces, through:
    1. Multi-door system that reduces temperature loss, prevents re-dipping and allows a greater use of the load, all this decreasing the casting time.
    2. Regenerative burners that minimize metal oxidation
  • Reheating of steel billets in walking beam furnaces

This project, FACOEE, has been co-financed by the SPRI, Business Development Agency of the Basque Government.
